Luggage
Luggage on Cape Verde’s ferries, flights and aluguers
Short answer
On CV InterIlhas ferries you carry two hand items free, each up to 55 × 40 × 25 cm and 8 kg, and may check two more of up to 25 kg, handed in at least 30 minutes before boarding. No airport lists a left-luggage desk among its services. In an aluguer, ask whether a big bag costs extra when you agree the fare.
On the ferries
CV InterIlhas publishes clear limits and charges:
- Hand luggage: two items free, each up to 55 × 40 × 25 cm (55 litres) and 8 kg. A bigger item becomes checked baggage at 300 CVE.
- Checked baggage: up to two items of 33 × 55 × 85 cm and 25 kg, handed in at least 30 minutes before boarding.
- A third checked item, or one over the limits, needs approval when you buy the ticket and costs 1,000 CVE.
- Pushchairs and other items for children under two travel free.

At the airports
The airport company’s list of luggage services names luggage-protection (wrapping) companies at Boa Vista and Sal and one undescribed provider at Praia; none is described as left luggage. Plan to keep your bags with you, or ask your accommodation to hold them.

On flights
CVsky says anything beyond the free allowance is charged extra and carried subject to space, and asks passengers to keep valuables in their hand luggage. The UK government advises keeping a few days of any prescribed medication in your hand luggage in case checked bags are delayed or lost.
