Late arrivals
Landing late in Cape Verde: getting from the airport at night
Short answer
No source we checked lists a scheduled bus at any Cape Verdean airport, at night or by day, and none publishes overnight taxi hours. The airport company lists taxis on arrival at most airports; for a late flight, the options that do not depend on finding a taxi are a transfer booked ahead or a pick-up arranged by your accommodation.
What is published about getting out at night
The airport company says formal taxis are available at most airports on arrival and that fares vary by island; it publishes no hours. The UK government advises taking authorised taxis from a rank or through your hotel, and avoiding unlit and isolated areas after dark. Shared hiace vans are no answer late at night: the tourism board warns that in some areas they run only at certain times of the day.

Before you fly
Save your accommodation’s address and phone number where you can read them offline. Every airport the company runs has free Wi-Fi once you give an email address, and the tourism board says 3G and 4G cover the archipelago.
Carry some escudos: the tourism board says euros are accepted in many places, especially on Sal and Boa Vista, but advises escudos for small payments. The Cotacâmbios exchange office at the Praia and Sal airports says it serves the passengers of every flight, every day of the week.

The next morning
Nothing in Cape Verde is a protected connection, and sea conditions can disrupt ferries, the UK government warns. After a late arrival, leave the first ferry for the next day rather than racing to a morning sailing.

Will a taxi be waiting if I land in the middle of the night?
The airport company says taxis are available at most airports on arrival, but it publishes no hours. If you would rather not rely on that, a transfer booked ahead or a pick-up from your accommodation are the alternatives.
